We ask our teachers to do so much, and now we are asking one to do a lot more – To Save Our Democracy from the extremist Right Wing Agenda.
Debra Turici, a beloved teacher from Moon Township who spent 33 years educating students in the West Allegheny School District is running as the Democratic Nominee for State Representative in Pennsylvania’s 44th District. She has the experience, the dedication and the qualifications to be an excellent State Representative.
In addition to being a school teacher, Debra earned a Leadership role in the Pennsylvania State Education Association. She served as Chair of the PSEA Political Action for Children and Education, Vice-Chair of the Western Region PSEA, and created the PSEA Fine Arts Caucus for arts and education statewide.
As a Leader in her community, Debra is the Chair of the West Hills Democratic Organization, former President of the West Allegheny Education Association, an elected DNC delegate for President Joseph Biden, and a member of the Moon Township Democratic Committee.
A graduate of Edinboro University, Debbie has been active in Democratic politics since her college days. She has canvassed for presidents, senators, House members and local Moon Township races.
Debbie is Pro-Choice, Pro-Union and Pro-Public Education. She will fight for fairness, equality and safety. She will fight extremists who want to see 10-year old rape victims have to carry their rapist’s child to term. She will fight for better wages and better working conditions. She will fight to see that all of our children get the best education that can get to succeed.
In her free time, Debra enjoys being a member of the Moon Township Garden Club. Her Italian style garden has been featured in national publications. She is active in community and recreation events, she enjoys reading and spending time with her dog, Bella Blue.
